The winding roads of the Luberon mountains with their spectacular views, herbs scented hills and rich variety of fauna and flora are a delight for nature lovers. Fields of red poppies in the spring, purple lavender and bright yellow sunflowers in the summer, perched hillside villages and the luminosity of the blue sky make this area the perfect setting for painters and photographers alike
The house is situated at La Bastide des Jourdans, a village south of the Luberon mountains which, although small and traditional, has all basic amenities and during the month of July there is an evening market once a week.
Leading directly from the village are some great walking tracks into the surrounding vineyards and pine clad forests or, if you are feeling more energetic, there are great hiking places in the nearby Luberon hills
The region also boasts a wealth of historical sights and offers a great selection of cultural events during the summer months - the nearest is staged at the château of La Tour D’Aigues (5 minutes drive) for music, theatre and dancing. Further away there is Aix en Provence (30 minutes drive) with its famous music and opera festival.
